Koh Samui, a tiny island in the middle of the Gulf of Thailand, is the perfect spot for a holiday filled with sunshine, delicious food, and relaxation. And when it comes to unwinding, picking the right place to stay is key. I recently stayed at an adult only resort – Explorar Koh Samui, and honestly, I couldn’t have made a better choice.
Explorar Koh Samui sits right by Mae Nam Beach in the northern stretch of the island. It’s a quieter spot, but the resort has your back with a complimentary shuttle to hotspots like Fisherman’s Village or Chaweng Beach if you’re up for some activities.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed at the reception and treated to a refreshing gift – a chilled towel, a true blessing in the sweltering heat. To top it off, they offered us coconut water infused with local rum—a truly delicious touch to kickstart our stay.
ROOM
Once armed with all the info about the resort, we eagerly headed to our villa. Our home for the stay was the Garden Pool Villa—a spacious 64 sqm retreat boasting its very own 20 sqm private pool. Talk about wow! The room was huge, complete with a super comfy bed, a TV for some downtime, a handy desk, and a bathroom that felt downright luxurious with its two showers. And let’s not forget the pièce de résistance—the star of the show—the large private pool accompanied by two chill bean bag beds. It was simply fantastic!

INFINITY POOL
Our room was absolutely fantastic, making saying goodbye a real challenge. Still, we couldn’t resist the appeal of the breathtaking infinity – best pool in Koh Samui! . Besides enjoying a refreshing dip, the pool area provided the opportunity to indulge in drinks from the swim-up bar, relax on a comfy chair, or sink into a bean bag on the sandy shores. Whether you were in the mood for a swim, a laid-back drink, or a casual lunch, it was the perfect spot to kick back, soak up the chill vibes, and just relax.
FOOD
At the resort, you can find a restaurant named Odyssey that serves up a mix of Mediterranean and Thai cuisine. Despite being the sole dining spot on the premises, the menu is surprisingly diverse. The best part? It’s all not just delicious but also very reasonably priced. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast ( that is included in your stay! ), offering a wide array of both Western and Asian options, as well as the delightful lunches and dinners set up by the beach, where the soothing sound of the waves added to the experience.
Explorar goes the extra mile by offering unique experiences like Thai Cooking Classes, Cocktail Classes, Thai Tapas every Tuesday, romantic dinners on the beach, or floating breakfasts. With our private pool, we couldn’t resist trying the breakfast experience, and it turned out to be an absolute blast! Picture this: a big yellow duck adding a fun twist to our morning meal.
SPA & GYM
Chilling by the pool isn’t the only way to unwind at Explorar Resort—I discovered a whole new level of relaxation at the Exhale Spa. They’ve got a lineup of fantastic treatments like body massages, indulgent body treatments, and rejuvenating facials. I was lucky enough to experience their incredible oil massage, and it was absolutely mind-blowing! The facilities were spot-on, the staff went above and beyond, and I’ve never felt so completely and blissfully relaxed in my life.
Just a skip away from the spa, the gym at Explorar is seriously top-notch—fully loaded with all the equipment you could ask for. Another cool option is booking yourself a yoga class, available on selected days. It’s a great way to add a bit of zen to your stay at Explorar.
THE EXCHANGE
If you find yourself needing to catch up on work, there’s a cool co-working space in the works at Explorar. Unfortunately, it’s still in the construction phase, so I haven’t had a chance to check it out. But knowing how awesome the rest of this place is, I’m betting it’s going to be pretty amazing. As I was leaving Explorar Resort in Koh Samui, I couldn’t help but reflect on the incredible experience that unfolded here.
