Given the proximity of two most famous landmarks, I knew I had to secure a hotel with a stunning view in Sydney. While there are many hotels in the city that offer great rooms with various angles and views, I chose the Shangri-La. This hotel offered the perfect vantage point to capture both the breathtaking Sydney Opera House and the iconic Harbour Bridge in one picture-perfect view.

Location
Shangri-La Sydney is situated in the heart of the city’s central business district, located between the famous Sydney Opera House and the iconic Harbour Bridge. This luxurious hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to some of Sydney’s top attractions, including The Rocks, Circular Quay, and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
There’s a tram stop about 5 min walk from the hotel that can take you to the city centre but also you can walk do the Circular Quay and take one of a few ferries to places like Darling Harbour or Luna Park
Room
Before booking my stay at Shangri-La Sydney, I had a good idea the views would be stunning, but the room itself totally exceeded my expectations! It was incredibly spacious, with stylish decor and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a true luxury experience. The room came with generous storage, a large flat-screen TV, and all the comforts you’d expect from one of the best luxury hotels in Sydney. But the real highlight (aside from the amazing Harbour views) was the oversized marble bathroom, complete with both a shower and a luxurious bath—perfect for unwinding after a day exploring Sydney’s CBD.
Dining
First up is Altitude, Shangri-La Sydney’s signature restaurant located on level 36, making it the ultimate Sydney hotel with a rooftop bar vibe. Here, you can enjoy contemporary Australian cuisine with stunning views of the Sydney Harbour and city skyline. This incredible dining experience makes Shangri-La one of the best luxury hotels in Sydney.
The menu changes regularly to feature the best local produce, and the wine list has an impressive range of Australian and international wines. Breakfast is also served here, and it’s honestly one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve ever had – another reason why staying at Shangri-La Sydney is a must!
If you’re in the mood for something sweet, make sure to visit the Lobby Lounge on level 1. This elegant space is the perfect spot for a mid-afternoon coffee or tea, and the patisserie selection is not to be missed. Treat yourself to a slice of cake or a freshly-baked pastry while taking in the lobby’s stunning architecture and artwork.
Finally, for those who prefer a drink with a view, head to Blu Bar on 36. Located on the same level as Altitude, this spot makes Shangri-La Sydney a top Sydney hotel with Harbour views. Blu Bar boasts some of the best views in the city—perfect for sipping a cocktail or a glass of wine while watching the sun set over the harbour. It’s truly the ideal way to end a day of exploring Sydney and another reason why Shangri-La is one of the best luxury hotels in Sydney.
Spa and Health Club
The Shangri-La Sydney offers a wonderful spa where guests can relax with a variety of massages and treatments.
As part of the top-notch Shangri-La Sydney amenities, there’s also a fully equipped health club for more active pursuits. It features a state-of-the-art gym, a cozy indoor swimming pool, an infrared sauna for deep relaxation, a warm whirlpool bath, and a sun deck to enjoy some peaceful downtime.
My stay at Shangri-La Sydney was more than just a place to sleep—it was a way to experience one of the world’s most exciting cities. This isn’t just a bed; it’s a window into the essence of Sydney. From savoring dishes in its restaurants to soaking in the marble luxury of my bathroom, and gazing out at the stunning cityscape, Shangri-La Sydney felt like a key part of my journey. If you’re looking for the best luxury hotel in Sydney, a place near the Opera House, or a Sydney hotel with a rooftop bar, this spot has it all.
