Location

Miami Hotel is located  in Sukhumvit Soi 13, right in the heart of one of Bangkok’s most vibrant and dynamic neighborhoods. This area is a hotspot for travelers, offering everything from trendy rooftop bars and international restaurants to street food stalls serving up authentic Thai flavors.

While Miami Hotel doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, that’s hardly an issue when you’re surrounded by so many great dining choices. Craving something local? There are plenty of street vendors nearby. Prefer international cuisine? You’ll find everything from Japanese and Italian to Middle Eastern spots within walking distance. And if you’re in the mood for a quick and easy snack, there’s a 7-Eleven right outside, perfect for grabbing a famous Thai toastie – a must-try if you haven’t had one yet!

If you’re looking for a unique dining experience in Bangkok, be sure to check out Cabbages & Condoms. This one-of-a-kind restaurant offers great food with a fun and quirky theme you won’t find anywhere else!

Beyond food, the hotel’s location is also ideal for getting around. Nana BTS Station is just 20 meters away, making it super convenient to explore Bangkok without getting stuck in traffic.

History

Miami Hotel has been around since 1965, opening its doors during the Vietnam War. Back then, Bangkok was a popular stop for American soldiers on leave, and the hotel was one of the places that welcomed them. The name “Miami” was chosen for two reasons. First, it was the year that Apasra Hongsakula, a Thai beauty queen, won the Miss Universe title in Miami Beach, USA – a huge moment of pride for Thailand. Second, the name had a familiar and inviting feel for the GI soldiers, making it a comfortable place to stay during their time in the city.

Even today, you can still feel the history in the hotel’s design. It’s like stepping into a different era, making it a unique place to stay in Bangkok.

First Impression

Even from the outside, Miami Hotel has a cool, retro vibe. The big neon sign with the hotel’s name glowing in bright lights instantly catches your eye, giving off a classic mid-century American motel feel.

The hotel lobby is full of old American-style details – from the classic tiled floors to the wood-paneled walls and retro furniture.

Room

Miami Hotel has 120 guest rooms, all keeping that vintage charm from the past. The first thing I noticed when I stepped inside my room was how spacious it was – much bigger than I expected for a budget hotel in Bangkok. Unlike the tiny, modern hotel rooms you often find in the city, here you actually have space to move around.

The decor is old-school but cool. My room had a big wooden bed, a simple bathroom with retro tiles, and classic furniture that looked straight out of the 60s. It wasn’t fancy or modern, but that’s exactly what made it interesting. There was a certain nostalgic feel – like staying in a piece of history rather than just another hotel.

One little detail I loved was the vintage key they gave me at check-in. No electronic cards here – just an old-fashioned key with a chunky keychain, which made me feel like I was back in a different era. It’s small things like this that make Miami Hotel such a unique experience.

Pool

One of the coolest things about Miami Hotel is the swimming pool. It’s right in the middle of the hotel, surrounded by the retro-style building, which makes it feel like a scene from an old movie. The pool is big and clean, perfect for a refreshing dip after a hot day exploring Bangkok.

There are lounge chairs around if you want to relax, and because the hotel isn’t overcrowded, it never feels too busy. It’s a nice little escape from the city’s heat and a great spot to chill for a bit. Even if you’re not much of a swimmer, just sitting by the pool with a drink feels like a little step back in time.

Miami Hotel Bangkok

If you’re looking for a cheap and unique hotel in Bangkok, Miami Hotel is a great choice. It’s not your usual modern high-rise, but that’s what makes it special. With its retro decor, spacious rooms, and central location near Nana BTS, it’s perfect for travelers who want something different without spending a fortune.

One of the best parts? It’s super affordable! I stayed here for New Year’s Eve and only paid £50 per night, which is an amazing deal, especially for such a busy time in Bangkok. Finding a budget-friendly hotel in Sukhumvit that’s this spacious and full of character isn’t easy, so if you love vintage hotels with a story, this is one to check out.

Whether you’re visiting for a quick trip or a longer stay, Miami Hotel offers a budget-friendly, central place to stay in Bangkok with a nostalgic charm you won’t find anywhere else. Would you stay in a hotel like this, or do you prefer modern places? Let me know in the comments!
