I haven’t had a chance to explore the entire planet yet so I won’t be tickling your envy with pictures of a lone hammock on the beaches of the Maldives, or the view from a mountain top in South America at sunset. But I have been fortunate enough to cover quite a bit of the world. There are some places, I would never want to go back to, others – well, if I had the chance I’d be on the first plane back! Here is my list of the best places in the world to visit.

A dream for any girl after watching the movie P.S, I Love you: a trip to Ireland. I couldn’t have been happier when I got to realize this dream in 2010. A little road trip was really the best choice for truly experiencing this enchanting country and its lush, green fields, its beautiful coastline and some of the best cities I’ve ever visited. The view from the Cliffs of Moher is absolutely spectacular, and a walk around the Blarney Castle near Cork, will bring you back in time, whilst its garden’s may inspire a few gardening projects in your own home. A visit to Dublin’s Temple Bar and the Guinness Storehouse is a must, and if you want to experience a unique nightlife that involves a lot of singing and dancing with the lovely local folk – this is where it’s at!

Krakow, Poland

If you ask me, Krakow is one of the best cities in Poland. I have been twice and had a wonderful time exploring the historic old town and the Jewish district, Kazimierz. This is where you will find the Old Synagogue and, if you’re a bit of a movie buff, you will recognize several locations which appear in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List. If you want to venture out to visit Schindler’s Factory or Auschwitz-Birkenau, there is a good bus connection available. Insight to this dark era in history can be rather intense, so I recommend you round off your day of sight-seeing by people-watching whilst sipping a cold beer in the main market square and, of course, strolling around the Wawel Royal Castle.

Miami, Florida

I visited Florida for the first time in 2012 and was surprised at how different Miami is to the other places I have been to in America. At times it feels like you’re in Cuba, South American vibes and music rule here. Chill out at the beach during the day for a bit of celebrity-spotting, and once the sun retires from beating down on you all day, you can dive into the booming nightlife and fill up on awesome food. Miami offers a wide selection of Latin cuisine ranging from scrumptious croquetas filled with ham, cheese, chorizo or chicken, to the Columbian/Venezuelan flavors of freshly prepared arepas. If you’re looking for fun places to go, Miami should be on the top of your list!

Ibiza, Spain

What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Ibiza? Endless partying? Yeah, that’s what I thought as well. I booked a hotel between Playa d’en Bossa and Ibiza town and you know what? It wasn’t bad at all. I was expecting rowdy tourists everywhere and loud music keeping me up all night, but it was actually pretty calm. For a bit of culture and history, a thirty minute walk into the city is ideal and has plenty to offer if you a fancy a little shopping spree. The party zone is separate from the city at a thirty minute walk into the other direction which takes you passed some nice beaches. I have to admit I haven’t explored too much of the island but what I have seen so far, I can see why people consider Ibiza to be one of the most beautiful places in the world.

My road trip to and through Italy was one of the best experiences of my life. I took off from Berlin and started my tour de Italia in Pisa and covered Rome, Rimini, Verona and Venice. Although Italy is very touristy, it’s amazing and you’ll always find fun places to go and little hidden places with the country’s original flair. A great escape from the tourist-riddled streets of Venice for example, is the neighboring fishing town of Chioggia, where you can feast on a quiet meal in one of its many seafood restaurants. I immediately fell in love with the architecture, food, wine, history, art, landscapes and the overall life style. I hope I’ll make it back there sometime soon for some more exploring!

Driving down the Pacific Coast Highway on Route 1 between San Francisco and Los Angeles was one of the best driving experiences of my life and, let me tell you: Spending a little extra on renting a convertible is totally worth it and you’ll know it the second you feel the ocean breeze in your hair. California has to be my favorite state in America and one of the best places in the world to visit. It has everything you need: big cities, a stunning coast, breath-taking sunsets, mountains, national parks and wineries – I mean, what more could you want, right? Visiting Yosemite Park, Warner Bros Studios and Lake Tahoe, was the fulfillment of my version of the American Dream.

Cannes, France

Cannes has more to offer than its famous movie festival. There’s so much going on here it would be odd for you not to fall in love. There’s a reason the elite hangs out here – what, with its sunny beaches, designer shops and luxury cars lining the streets. But there’s also plenty for those who prefer culture over tanning and exercising their credit cards: Cannes is full of unique galleries and renowned museums, excellent food and French wine; and should you ever tire of the city, you can easily move on to Monaco or Nice.

Berlin, Germany

I lived in Berlin for almost three years and it was a fun time in my life. Berlin made it into my top three of fun places to go for many reasons: the history, the culture, the architecture. You get to learn so much about the city and the country as a whole, just by wandering the streets and taking in the many historic sites. The city is famous for its nightlife, there’s something for everyone. It doesn’t matter what music you’re into, Berlin caters to every taste and the same can be said for the food. You’ll find a great variety of international cuisine, not to mention delicious kebab shops on every corner. This is a relatively cheap, relaxed and vibrant city, a perfect getaway for anyone in need of blowing off some steam and dancing the night away.

What do I love about Barcelona the most? It’s the perfect combination of beach and city life. I am very interested in the Spanish culture and hope to one day live in Barcelona, at least for a while. It’s a laid-back lifestyle; people don’t seem to be taking part in the rat race, they are unrushed and tranquilos. You can start your work day at nine or ten o’clock in the morning and have dinner by the sea in the evening – perfect! I love this city, there is so much to see; whether you want to focus your stay on immersing yourself in Gaudí’s most famous works, or soak up the bohemian flair of Las Ramblas and the Barrio Gotico, Barcelona is the place to be.

Bermuda made it to number one of the top ten most beautiful places in the world for me because it’s the only real exotic place I have been to so far. Prior to visiting this place, I’d only ever seen beaches as such in magazines: clear blue waters, just like the sky, and pink, sandy beaches. I loved the colorful houses and all the great restaurants on the island, and it’s easy to explore the place by bike or moped. There’s a lot of history to the island and all the eerie stories about cruise ships and planes that have gone missing in the infamous Bermuda Triangle, add to a very special atmosphere.

  1. I fell in LOVE with Ireland when i was there… I live in california, so i get that sort of. I cannot wait to see the other places you mention… I have a plan to see Italy within the next three years 😀

  2. Ireland is fabulous. We loved our trip there. The Irish countryside is so beautiful and comforting at the same time. If you haven’t yet, go to Scotland. I thought it would be similar to Ireland but it’s quite different but just as magical.

  3. See, I honestly have ALL of the places on my list, BUT when I go, I need to stay there at least a month. Integration is so important to me. It hurts to just show up and leave a place quickly.

  4. I am pretty sure I am wanting to visit at least three quarters of all of the options that have already stolen your heart. I am hoping to be going on a trip to Italy next year for a month, and I am super excited! Thanks for the inspiration towards other destinations as well!

  5. This is such a wonderful list! You’ve gone on many of the adventures that are on my travel wish list, like driving the Pacific Coast Highway and road tripping through Italy. Chiogga sounds beautiful, and after the tourist frenzy of Rome and other Italian cities, I can see how a day off in a quiet fishing village would be a welcome respite. Not to mention Cannes…and Krakow…I love it all! Great picks. 🙂

    • Krakow is by far one of my favorite places in Poland! If you go to Ireland definitely make sure to venture out into the countryside as well.

  6. I’m sad to admit I’ve only been to one place on your list: Italy! I think of all the places you listed, either Ireland or Bermuda would be my favorite. I love the greenness of Ireland, but the warmth and color of Bermuda would probably win me over 🙂

  7. Gorgeous photos! Many of these places have stolen my heart as well. It’s a shame the world is so big and there’s so much to see. I need to find a way to revisit some of these cities.

  8. Berlin’s cool vibes definitely stole my heart. Would love to do a roadtrip through Ireland one day, once I get through the rest of my endless bucket list. Hope you get to add more to the list soon!

  9. Great post about most beautiful Places… These are not only place these are the wonders of the world.

I have been Ireland & my experience with Ireland was superb. Ireland looks really wonderful as tourism.
